En Nuestra Lengua:
Spanish Literacy and Culture Project (ENL)
This pilot program between the University of Michigan and the local Spanish-speaking community seeks to close the academic achievement gap among K-3 Hispanic students in Ann Arbor through academic development in the first language. The partnership aims to enhance literacy skills and oral fluency in Spanish, foster pride in the heritage language and culture, and strengthen intergenerational bonds in the community. By leveraging the resources of students’ home cultures to advance the educational and social needs of Latino youth, this initiative provides heritage language preservation for a growing segment of the population.
