Living the Arts: Tracing Culture and History in the 20th Century Through Music, Literature and Performance
Professor Brooks will work in collaboration with Nandi Comer of Detroit InsideOut Literary Arts Project and Ph.D. candidate Shanesha Brooks to engage young poets in interactive, performance-oriented workshops that provide a living exploration of history and culture. To reinforce the link between cultural production and public intellectual work, the project team will help to reinvigorate the arts as a positive identity formation for urban teenagers.
